WHO WE ARE

Freestanding Communities is a transformative, all-volunteer, Community-Based Health Outreach Organization established in New Orleans, Louisiana as a bridge to care for underserved members of the community. We embrace a strategy of empowering our communities at its roots in order to shape the healthy environments we want and deserve to live in. Our efforts include health literacy and a bridge to care, continuing health education and training for volunteers, as well as emergency preparation assistance during times of environmental disasters.

At Freestanding Communities, there's an understanding that our communities come first and the actions we take as individuals today have a huge impact on our communities as a whole tomorrow. "A society grows great when old men plant trees to whose shade they will never sit." Get in touch to learn more about our mission and join our cause today.

WHAT WE DO

FSC CHOP CLINIC

COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Overcoming Barriers to Care

Our team of medical professionals, community health advocates, and volunteers are dedicated to removing barriers to care and meeting participants where they are physically, emotionally, and financially. Our mobile health literacy screenings are capable of delivering free preventative and health education clinics, point-of-care-screenings for conditions such as blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, delivering take home pregnancy tests, and more. Our purpose is to build stronger roots within the community and serve as an additional pathway to primary care with physicians in the area.

EDUCATION & TRAINING CLINICS

Learning. Training. Doing.

Freestanding Communities is not a charity organization. We are force multipliers and capacity builders, establishing sustainable environments of mutual support and immediate resources. Community Health Advocate Volunteers receive training and skills certifications which will provide a direct impact in their neighborhoods. Training programs include CPR and First Aid, Stop The Bleed training, Health and Wellness, hazard mitigation, and more. Our Education & Training Clinics are reserved for our volunteers working in their communities.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Being the Help Before Help Arrives

Whether we are assisting with a neighborhood clean up, delivering first aid training, or preparing for the hurricane season, our team of volunteers remain active in preparation well before and immediately after a natural disaster. Our goal is to minimize the impact felt by our neighbors and emergency responders alike.
